Camels host Rams Tuesday night

CU has won 4 of its last 5

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell (6-2) hosts NAIA member Columbia International Tuesday at 7 p.m. on ESPN+ before taking a week-long break for final exams.

The Camels are coming off just their second loss of the season, a 65-61 setback Saturday at 2021 NCAA tournament participant VCU.  CU's only other defeat was Nov. 12 at then 9th-ranked Duke.

On Saturday, the Camels led by as many as 16 points early and fell just short in a contest that included 10 lead changes and four ties.  Cedric Henderson, Jr. led the Camels with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Jesus Carralero matched his career high with 19 points and dealt 6 assists.

Campbell has held all 8 of its opponents below 70 points and ranks first in the Big South, 21st in the nation, in scoring defense (58.2).  CU tops the BSC in field goal percentage defense (.390).

Henderson(13.1), Ricky Clemons (11.5), Carralero (11.0) and Jordan Whitfield lead a balanced Campbell offense that has produced assists on 59 percent of its baskets in '21-22.

Like Campbell, CIU (6-4) has won 4 of its last 5 games, but fell Saturday in a 62-61 decision at Tennessee Wesleyan.  The Rams dropped a 90-78 exhibition Nov. 24 at Big South member Gardner-Webb.

Darrian Oates (11.7), Skyler McKinney (11.0) and DiAnthony Heathcock (10.2) lead the Columbia International offense.
