BUIES CREEK – Six individual winners helped push Campbell to a 141-115 win over UNC Pembroke Friday night at the Johnson Aquatic Center. The Camels wrapped up the 2020-21 regular season slate with a 3-3-1 record while going 2-1 in their home pool.
Campbell took the second and third place spots in each of the first three events of the evening. The first win came from
Julia Sherlock in the 100 back with a time of 58.56.
Aynslee Grasso grabbed second in that event as well.
Izza Gaskey won the ensuing event, the 100 breaststroke at 1:07.85. After two more UNCP wins, Campbell trailed 68-60 at the first break.
The Camels found their stride in event nine, the 200 back, when
Maialen Sudupe (2:09.41),
Drew Marshall and Grasso took each of the top three spots and earn 16 points.
Piper Burton and
Kellie Knotts went 1-2 in the following event, the 200 breaststroke. Burton touched at 2:29.42 with Knotts just behind at 2:30.85
Annie Sanchez nabbed first in the 500 free (5:10.43), her only individual event of the evening.
In the final individual event of the night, Maria Kristjansdottir and Liz Sparacino went 1-2 in the 400 IM.
The meet concluded with a tightly contested 200 free relay. Campbell, anchored by Morgan Harltey, touched just ahead of UNCP for first. The Campbell C team in the event then edged out UNCP's B team again in a battle for third, coming in 0.20 ahead.

Campbell's next action will come at the conference meet. The CCSA meet is will be held Feb. 14-17 in Lynchburg, Va.
