BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Hannah Donaldson and Audrey Gun combined for 31 points and Gardner-Webb topped Campbell 3-1 (25-21, 25-23, 25-27, 25-22) Friday at Paul Porter Arena, splitting the two match Big South series.
GWU moved to 3-9 on the season, while Campbell dropped to 7-3 overall, splitting its third straight Big South series after taking Thursday's matchup with the Runnin' Bulldogs 3-0.
The Bulldogs took the day's first two sets, 25-21 and 25-23, jumping out to an 8-1 advantage in the opening frame and never trailing before Gun tallied three of her match-high 15 kills in the second set, including the deciding 25
th point for GWU.
Campbell held off the Bulldogs with a win in set three, fending off match point with three straight points, including kills from
Melody Paige and
Kate Menz, to take it 27-25. Neither team held more than a three point lead in the fourth and final set, which featured 11 ties and five lead changes, but kills from Donaldson and Alexandria Roycraft closed out the match for GWU.
Donaldson posted a match-high 16 points on 11 kills and six blocks, while Gun added eight digs to go along with her 15 kills. Roycraft also registered six blocks with eight kills, while Lauryn Rocassin dished out 25 assists with seven kills. Sophia Bolden also added 20 digs with five aces and eight assists.
Lailah Green notched a team-high 13 kills with two blocks for the Camels, while
Melody Paige and
Sarah Colla recorded 10 kills apiece, combining for six blocks.
Chloe Cook added 11 kills, with
Madee Miner posting 29 assists with 13 digs.
Elyse Gross also added 16 digs for CU.
Campbell returns to Buies Creek on March 18, beginning a two match set with Presbyterian.
