MT. PLEASANT, MICH. – No. 25 Campbell went 2-1 on Sunday at the inaugural Chippewa Challenge, hosted by Central Michigan at McGuirk Arena.

The Camels (6-3) outscored American (1-8) and Bakersfield (1-5) by a combined 58-18 score, topping the Eagles 28-9 before defeating the Roadrunners 30-9, totaling for seven bonus point victories. The host Chippewas (5-2) edged out CU 19-15 in the day's finale to earn the event title, sweeping all three duals.

Campbell's Korbin Meink at 125 pounds, Domenic Zaccone at 133, No. 18 Austin Murphy at 174 and No. 25 Caleb Hopkins at 184 pounds all went 3-0 on the day, while 165 pounder Troy Nation notched a pair of wins.

The Chippewas led CU 13-6 after Tracey Hubbard's last second takedown at 165 pounds gave CMU its third straight win. Murphy broke the streak with a 6-1 decision for the Camels, and Hopkins followed with a first period pin, returning the lead to Campbell, 15-13, with two matches to remaining.

Aaron Bolo's 7-4 decision at 197 set up a winner-take-all final at heavyweight.

CU's No. 25 Taye Ghadiali and No. 9 Matt Stencel battled to overtime, 1-1, before a stalling call awarded a point to the CMU heavyweight, ending the match.

The Camels return home on January 23, hosting The Citadel.
