DURHAM, N.C. – Campbell won the doubles point, but nationally-ranked Duke swept the singles to earn a 6-1 dual match win Saturday at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.
Campbell's
Damien Nezar and
Benjamin Maes teamed for a 6-2 win over Andrew Zhang and Connor Krug at the top doubles spot for the deciding point.
Robin Angles and
Tomas Balazi also won at the second position 6-2 over Faris Khan and Niroop Vallabhaneni.
In singles play, Duke won the top four matches in straight sets. Maes dropped a third-set super tiebreaker at the fifth position, while
Noe Macquart also split sets at No. 6 before falling in the third.
Campbell returns to action next Saturday (Mar. 5) when it hosts Hampton at 10:00 a.m. in its Big South Conference opener.
