Sinani and Walsh join Camel hoops program

Milwaukee transfer and former Great Britain U18 team member headed to CU

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Jason Sinani and Elijah Walsh have signed athletics grants in aid with Campbell University, head men's basketball coach Kevin McGeehan announced Friday.

Sinani joins the Camels after playing his freshman season at Milwaukee, while Walsh, a native of England, comes to Buies Creek after spending the 2021-22 year at The Master's Academy in Oviedo, Fla.  The duo joins Devon Dunn and Juan Reyna, both who committed last month, in the 2022 Campbell recruiting class.

An all-state performer as a high school senior in Oak Creek, Wis., in 2021, Sinani played in 21 games as a freshman at Milwaukee, where he started the final three games of the '21-22 campaign.  A 6-foot-3 guard, Sinani averaged 8.8 minutes, 1.0 points and 0.9 assists while posting a 1.7 assist-turnover ratio.

"Jasin is a really good player and I guy we really wanted just a year ago when he was a senior in high school," said McGeehan.  "Unfortunately, many kids had to make college choices without the advantage of being able to travel to campuses due to the Covid pandemic.  We were thrilled to be able to recruit Jasin again.  He is a really quality person, who is tough and competitive.  He is another guy who really sees the game and makes others better.  I think he will have a huge impact on our program."

A 6-foot-5 guard, Walsh was a 3-A all-state selection after averaging 20 points and nine rebounds in his lone season at The Master's Academy.  He was ranked as the fifth-best player in England and selected to the 2020 Great Britain U-18 national team.

"Elijah Walsh is a great addition to our program," said McGeehan.  "He has a calmness and poise about his game that I think will serve him well in college.  He has very good length and athleticism along with a real ability to see the game.  I'm excited to see how he will develop for us.  He is a high character person who I know will acclimate well to CU."

Dunn, Sinani, Reyna and Walsh join a Fighting Camel program that won the 2019 Big South Conference regular season, advanced to the 2021 league title game, and finished second in the North Division last season.  Now entering his 10th year in charge of the Camels, McGeehan has guided the squad to 105 victories over the last six seasons, the most in a six-year span in CU's Division I era, which dates to 1977-78.
