BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell concludes its 2023 fall season with the Daniel Island Intercollegiate, hosted by Charleston Southern University at the Daniel Island Club Ralston Creek Course in Charleston, S.C.
The 54-hole event begins Sunday and continues through Tuesday's final round on the par-72 Rees Jones design. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.
Campbell has posted consecutive top-10 team finishes in its last two outings, including a third-place effort at the Georgetown Intercollegiate. Only No. 17 Florida and Loyola Maryland finished ahead of Campbell at Woodmont CC in Rockville, Md. CU most recently finished ninth at the Furman Intercollegiate.
Ten different NCAA Division I conferences are represented in the 18-team field, including three CAA members (Campbell, College of Charleston and UNCW). In addition to host Charleston Southern and fellow Big South member USC Upstate, the SEC (South Carolina), Big Ten (Maryland), Big East (Seton Hall) are also represented.
The Camels will be paired with Charleston Southern and the College of Charleston for Sunday's opening round and start from the first tee at 8:40 a.m. The 54-hole event continues through Tuesday.

Two players are in the Camel lineup that helped Campbell finish third in the 2022 Daniel Island Intercollegiate. Nordlof finished T23 (78-73-73—224), while Holmberg placed T31 (74-77-75—226).

The Course – Daniel Island Club Ralston Creek (Par 72, 7446 yards): Against a stunning backdrop of natural saltwater marsh and tidal creek vistas, acclaimed golf course architect Rees Jones has designed a true Lowcountry classic. Ralston Creek, Daniel Island's second 18-hole masterpiece, is a par 72 course playing 7,446 yards from the championship tees. Opened in 2006, the course was named among the nation's top new private courses by Golfweek and Golf Digest magazines and has hosted Korn Ferry Tour events. "The layout has all the elements of a stern test of golf," says Jones, "including strategically placed, sculpted fairway bunkers, diversely contoured greens, greenside bunkers placed to protect the championship pin positions, and enough length for the long hitters.
The Coach: Now in his 34th year in charge of the Campbell men's golf program and 33rd as head coach of the CU women,
John Crooks has been named league coach of the year 23 times in his tenure. His teams have combined to earn 35 NCAA post-season trips, including 11 in a row for the women. His teams have won 160 tournaments and with 99 career tournament titles, Crooks trails only Dan Brooks of Duke (141) on the all-time coaching victories list among Division I women's coaches. He has guided his teams to 27 league titles, including 19 on the women's side and eight in men's competition.
The Lineup:
Freshman
Erik Johansson (Hollviken, Sweden) leads the Camels with a 71.8 scoring average and three top-20 finishes. He shared the 36-hole lead at the Furman Intercollegiate, but finished T12 (66-68-72—212, -1). Johansson also produced a T15 finish at the VCU Shootout (73-68-69—210) and was T14 at Georgetown (71-75-75—221). Ranked No. 22 in Sweden (U21), Johansson has recorded six rounds of par, or better, golf in 12 rounds this fall.
Sophomore
Tim Holmberg (Uppsala, Sweden) owns a 73.9 scoring average over 12 rounds. He tied for 26th at Georgetown (77-78-73—228) and madtched his season low with a 69 in the second round at Furman. The 2023 Big South Conference freshman of the year, Holmberg was also a second-team all-conference and all-freshman team selection.
Freshman
Joachim Larsen Tegner (Lier, Norway) has also played par, or better, golf in six of 12 rounds this fall. He holds a 73.4 scoring average. Larsen Tegner recorded his first career top-10 finish (T10, 72-70-77—219) at the Georgetown Intercollegiate. He shot a season-best, 4-under 68 in the opening round at the Badger Invitational. He was a member of the Norwegian team that competed in the 2022 European boys team championship in Germany.
Junior
Douglas Nordlof (Saltsjobaden, Sweden) owns a 76.2 scoring average over six rounds. He shot a season-best, even-par 72 in the third round of the Badger Invitational. Last season, Nordlof was named second-team All-Big South after compiling a 74.84 stroke average and a pair of top-20 outings.
Freshman
Petter Dale (Herdla, Norway) is competing in his third tournament of the fall and has compiled a 78.2 scoring average over six rounds. He shot a season-best 73 in the first round of the VCU Shootout. Dale advanced to match play at the 2022 British Boys Championship at Carnoustie.
