Asheville tops Camels 157-105

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Camels topped six events, but UNC Asheville claimed a 157-105 dual win over Campbell Friday afternoon at the Johnson Aquatic Center.

UNC Asheville moved to 1-0 on the season, handing Campbell (0-1) a defeat in its home and dual opener.

Bulldogs won eight events on the day, sweeping the top three places in the 200 free, 200 fly, 100 fly and 200 IM.

CU took a pair of relays, including the 400 medley relay (3:52.96) and the 200 free relay (1:36.17), with another Campbell unit taking third (1:40.78).

Meredith Ashburn took both the 50 free (23.94) and the 100 free (52.17) in back to back races, while Camels finished 1-2 in the 100 back behind Angelica Ragazzoni (57.81) and Elishka Hajek (58.43).

Bella Butera also won the 200 breast with a time of 2:22.67, while finishing third in the 100 breast (1:06.99).

Ragazzoni also took a runner-up finish in the 200 back (2:05.24), just in front of teammate Laura Lopez (2:07.27). Kat Gagnon added another second place finish in the 1000 freestyle (10:38.50), also recording a third place showing in the 500 free (5:15.58).

Next up, CU returns to the Johnson Aquatic Center on October 28, hosting Old Dominion and Gardner-Webb.
