Camels fall at ECU

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Frances Kimel and Sophia Locicero both registered five points, leading East Carolina past Campbell 20-8 on Wednesday at Johnson Stadium.

The Pirates improved to 3-1 on the season, while Campbell suffered its first loss of 2023, falling to 1-1.

Kimel and Locicero posted four goals and an assist each, while Camryn Pennypacker also chipped in four goals for ECU.

Erin Gulden added three goals and an assist and Ellie Bromley tallied a goal and two assists, with Summer Morrison notching four ground balls and a caused turnover. Brynn Knight also made five saves in goal with a ground ball.

Delaney Nicolaus paced the visiting Camels with three goals for the freshman's first career hat trick, scoring on both of her free position attempts. Rasa Welsh also registered three points with two goals and an assist, adding a game-high eight draw controls.

Joslin Hanbury added two goals while Chandler Stewart posted three ground balls with a caused turnover for the Camels.

Leading 13-5 at the break, ECU outscored Campbell 7-3 in the second half, including a shutout third quarter, while edging the Camels in shots 30-18, and ground balls 20-11, on the day.

Next up, Campbell will travel to future CAA foe William & Mary on Saturday, February 25. Following a trap to George Mason on March 1, the Camels will return home, hosting Old Dominion on March 4.
