WILLIAMSBURG, VA. – Serena Jacobs' second overtime goal lifted William & Mary over visiting Campbell, 14-13, on Saturday at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.
The Tribe pulled even to 2-2 overall, while Campbell dipped to 1-2 on the season.
No team led by more than two goals during the matchup of future CAA foes that featured 10 ties and four lead changes.
William & Mary led 12-10 until Campbell answered with back to back goals from
Sam Bischoff and
Rasa Welsh knotted the game at 12-all with 7:48 remaining in regulation. Maresa Moyer returned the lead to the Tribe with 3:12 to go before
Ally Heath tied the game for CU with 56 seconds on the clock off the feed from Welsh, forcing overtime.
The teams remained knotted at 13-13 through the first OT period, combining for three shots, including one on target for the Camels. With 3:09 to go in the second overtime, Jacobs' winner found the back of the cage off the assist from Paige Gilbert.
Jacobs added an assist in the win, while Gilbert posted three points on two goals and an assist for the Tribe. Moyer also scored three goals, while Kate Draddy tallied four points on two goals and two assists.
Caroline Donovan collected three caused turnovers with three ground balls, while Elise Palmer and Marin Wilhelm combined for seven saves.
Sam Bischoff led Campbell with a game-high five goals, adding two caused turnovers, while Welsh also registered five points on four goals and an assist. Heath and
Delaney Nicolaus tacked on two points apiece for the Camels, while
Rebekah Taylor forced three turnovers with five ground balls.
Next up, CU will head to George Mason on March 1. The Camels will return home, hosting Old Dominion on March 4.
