BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell begins competition at the 2023 NCAA Wrestling Championships on Thursday, March 16, with five Camels qualifying.
The 2023 NCAA Championships take place March 16-18 at BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Action begins at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, with ESPN's family of networks broadcasting the championships in their entirety.
This is the fifth consecutive season that Campbell has qualified at least five wrestlers for the NCAA Championships.
Headed to his second straight NCAA tournament,
Domenic Zaccone is seeded No. 20 and will face No. 13 Chris Cannon from Northwestern in next week's first round. Zaccone is 20-5 on the season, taking third at last weekend's SoCon Championships, topping 24th-ranked Ethan Oakley from App State, 6-2, in the true place match to secure his NCAA bid.
At 141 pounds,
Shannon Hanna earned a No. 27 seed and will take on No. 6 Beau Bartlett from Penn State in the first round. At 24-8 overall, Hanna is a back to back SoCon champion, completing his second consecutive unbeaten SoCon season in 2022-23.
At 184 pounds,
Caleb Hopkins comes in at No. 27. The three-time NCAA qualifier will take on No. 6 Kaleb Romero from Ohio State to open the tournament. The redshirt senior is 19-8 in 2022-23, winning his third SoCon championship with a 4-0 decision over No. 33 Jha`Quan Anderson from Gardner-Webb.
Coming into his first NCAA Championships,
Levi Hopkins is seeded No. 24 at 197 pounds. He will square off against the 2022 national champion, Penn State's Max Dean, seeded No. 9. Hopkins has gone 24-8 this season, including a perfect 8-0 mark in SoCon action.
Finally, heading to his third NCAA Championships,
Taye Ghadiali was seeded No. 17, meeting No. 16 Tate Orndorff from Ohio State to open the tournament. Ghadiali is 26-3 this season with 13 bonus point wins, and was the only wrestler in last weekend's SoCon Championships to win each of his matches by pin.
