BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After helping Campbell secure a berth in the Big South Championship, Lukas Steffen was named the league's men's tennis freshman of the week.
 
Steffen remained unbeaten in league singles action (4-0) with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Asheville's Harry Thursfield. 
 
In CU's only match of the week, Steffen helped the Camels earn a 5-2 victory and secure a berth in the Big South Championship, which will be held Apr. 21-22 in Charlotte. 
 
On the year, Steffen stands 19-10 in singles, including a 12-6 mark in dual matches, splitting time between No. 3 and No. 2 singles.  The resident of Cary, N.C., also was named freshman of the week on Mar. 15.
 
Campbell (12-6, 3-1) can clinch a share of the Big South regular season championship with a victory over Radford Thursday (2:30 p.m.) in Buies Creek.  The Camels close out the regular slate Saturday at Charlotte.
