BUIES CREEK, N.C. –
Rasa Welsh matched a career-high with seven points, leading Campbell over visiting Longwood 18-10 on Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium.
The Camels won their sixth straight outing, remaining perfect in Big South play at 6-0, while moving to 10-4 overall. CU's 10 wins match a program single-season best, hitting the double figure mark for the third time (2016, 2017, 2022). Longwood fell to 3-10 overall and 1-5 in Big South games with the loss.
Campbell build a 13-5 lead at the break on first half hat tricks from
Kyla Azzato and
Ally Heath, holding on for the eight goal victory, its sixth home win this season.
Welsh picked up seven points for the second straight game, collecting three goals and four assists, while Heath scored a game-high four goals. Azzato also notched three goals, while
Olivia Ohlmann and
Sam Bischoff both added three points apiece.
Rebekah Taylor and
Shae Fitzgerald both registered four caused turnovers, while Fitzgerald picked up five ground balls.
Katie Ochall tallied three ground balls, adding a caused turnover and five draw controls.
Emma Strickland, meanwhile, made eight saves and logged four ground balls.
Kendra Defilippo led Longwood with two goals and an assist, while Lauren Cerretani posted two goals. Julia Koenig also caused three turnovers with four ground balls, while Amelia Carlile made 11 saves in relief.
Next up, the Camels will head on the road for their final regular season matchup away from Buies Creek on April 22 at Winthrop, returning home for showdowns with High Point (April 26) and Mercer (April 29).
