BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell moved to the top of the Big South Conference men's tennis standings Monday with a 5-2 victory over UNC Asheville at the Nisbet Center.
 
The Camels (12-6, 3-1 Big South) claimed the doubles point and four singles on a day when four of the six contests went the full three sets.
 
Asheville tied the match at 2-2 through wins at the top two singles positions, but Lukas Steffen, Noe Macquart and Robin Angles delivered three-set victories for the Camels.
 
After pairing with Damien Nezar for a win at the second doubles position, Benjamin Maes dispatched Asheville's Chester Wickwire 6-1, 6-3 to earn his eighth win in his last 10 contests and improved to 14-3 in dual matches this spring.
 
Steffen claimed a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Harry Thursfield to remain undefeated (4-0) in Big South singles play, while Macquart improved to 8-2 on the spring and Angles ran his record to 4-1 at number six.
 
Campbell closes out its Big South schedule with a 1:00 p.m. first serve Saturday at the Nisbet Center.  A victory would give the Camels at least a share of the league regular season title.
