NORFOLK, VA. – Old Dominion took the 2024-25 season opener 150.5-111.5 over visiting Campbell on Saturday.
The teams split the day's 14 events, with each squad topping seven races apiece, but the Monarchs were two of the top three finishers in 12 different heats, including a 1-2-3 performance in the 50 back to take the dual win.
Katarina Gagnon was one of three Camels to earn two wins on the day for the Camels, including the 1,000 free with a time of 10:40.72 and the 500 free, turning in a 5:11.87.
Caroline Lucas also took back-to-back first place finishes in the 50 and 100 free, notching times of 24.30 and 53.47, respectively, while
Arabella Butera claimed both the 50 (31.01) and the 100 (1:07.53) breaststroke. Campbell also swept the top three spots in the 200 IM, paced by
Lauren McLean (2:12.39),
Julia Garcia (2:12.50) and Butera (2:13.37).
Next up, Campbell will head to East Carolina on Friday, October 25. The Camels will make their home debut on November 9 against Liberty.
