BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Campbell Fighting Camels split their matches on Saturday afternoon, defeating Cal Baptist, 27-14, and falling to #7 NC State, 44-3, at Liberty High School in the Journeyman WrangleMania.

The Camels now sit at 1-2 in the early stages of the season.

Seven Campbell wrestlers won their matchup against Cal Baptist, highlighted by first-period pins from Anthony Molton and Taye Ghadiali. Molton pinned Mitchell Neiner in 52 seconds, while Ghadiali finished the bookend pair of pins in 2:06 over Tristan Kemp.

At 133 pounds, Domenic Zaccone followed Molton with an 8-2 decision over Hunter Leake. He was followed by Shannon Hanna, who defeated Eli Griffin in the second sudden victory stage.

After the Lancers earned their first win at 149 pounds, Seth Larson came away with a 4-2 decision over Daniel Manibog to add to the Campbell total.

Dom Baker earned his second dual win of the season at 174 pounds, scoring a takedown in the first tiebreak portion against Carther Schmidt to win, 4-1.

Mike Slade earned his first collegiate win with a 7-6 decision over Eli Sheeren at 197 pounds.

Against NC State, Zaccone was the lone Camel to record a win, defeating Draegen Orine by a 6-2 decision. The Wolfpack scored five six-point wins and one tech fall against the Camels.

"We are blessed to be able to match up against a Big 12 program and a top 10 team this early. Those are the battles we need to have to prepare for March. I thought the team looked great against Cal Baptist and our conditioning paid off. Against NC State, we were just not there yet. I thought they were physically put together better and dominated us in a few very important positions. We are going to have to get a lot stronger and we have a lot of cleaning up to do before we see those guys again at NCAA [Championships]. It's a long season and there is a lot of time to prepare.
