BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell won the day's first seven matchups, defeating visiting North Carolina Central 6-1 on Thursday afternoon at the Nisbet Tennis Center.
Campbell moved to 3-1 on the season, winning its third straight match, while NCCU fell to 1-4 in dual competition.
The Camels clinched the doubles point with
Damien Nezar and
Benjamin Maes edging NCCU's Kareem Abdul Hakim and Oliver Saarinen, 7-5. After
Lukas Steffen started singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Naresh Bharathy, Maes clinched the team victory for the Camels, defeating Kareem Abdul Hakim 6-3, 6-2.
Leo Fortier picked up the Eagles' lone point, earning a 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 win.
Next up, Campbell will head back on the road, taking on The Citadel and Lees-McRae on Saturday in Charleston, S.C., then heading to South Carolina State on Sunday.
