HAMPTON, VA. – Campbell closed out its first CAA Swimming & Diving Championships appearance with a seventh place finish.
The four-day championships concluded on Saturday at the Hampton Aquaplex, with Campbell totaling 527.5 points. UNCW captured the team championship with 1,409 points, followed by Delaware (1,354), William & Mary (1,107), Northeastern (1,067), Towson (1,024) and Drexel (604).
Stony Brook (308) and Monmouth (290.5) rounded out team scoring.
UNCW also earned the men's team title with 885.5 points.
During Friday's action,
Meredith Ashburn tied for fourth in the 100 free along with Delaware's Nicole Chiappa with a time of 50.48.
Angelica Ragazzoni also placed seventh in the 200 back, clocking in at 2:00.41.
Campbell's 400 free relay squad closed out the championships with a sixth place finish, turning in a time of 3:24.76.
In all, Campbell posted four school records during the 2024 CAA Championships, including the
50 back (Ragazzoni: 25.44), 100 back (Ragazzoni: 54.22), 200 medley relay (Ragazzoni,
Izza Gaskey,
Meredith Ashburn,
Elishka Hajek; 1:41.20) and 200 free relay (Ragazzoni,
Laura Lopez, Ashburn,
Elishka Hajek; 1:32.14).
Ragazzoni also captured the first CAA Swimming and Diving Championships medal in program history for new conference member Campbell, finishing runner-up in the 100 backstroke with her school record time of 54.22 during Friday's competition.
