BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Elif Albayrak's third set win lifted UNCW over Campbell 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Nisbet Tennis Center.
The Seahawks improved to 10-7 in dual action, while CU fell to 11-8, suffering its first home loss of the 2024 season.
The Camels clinched the doubles point
Tamsin Hart and
Mialy Ranaivo topping Anna Parker Shumate and Gabbie Glickstein 6-1, followed by
Mariana Ossa and
Lily Chitambar downing Stela Joksimovic and Alicia Eberwein 6-2.
Ossa opened singles play by dealing Alicia Eberwein a 6-0, 6-2 defeat, and Hart made it a 3-1 Campbell lead, topping Katelyn Hubbard 7-6 (8-6), 6-4. UNCW, however, responded with three-straight three-set wins, including Albayrak's 6-7 (1-7), 6-4, 6-2 clincher over
Eeva Ristola.
The CAA Championship begins on Wednesday, April 24.
