BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell (28-19-1) drops game one 5-1 against Queens (24-22), but wins game two 10-2 in six innings.
Game One
Brooke Piper got walked with bases loaded to give the Royals their first run of the game, In the fourth inning Kayla Smith hit a two RBI double, and then Lindsey DeRoeck also walked with bases loaded. Ashlyn Mickler hit an RBI single in the fifth inning to give the Royals their fourth run of the game.
The Camels battled in the fifth inning when
Allyiah Swiney reached on an error and
Madilyn Gillespie scored. The Royals got their last run of the game in the seventh inning after an RBI sacrifice bunt.
Autumn Courtney (18-9) was credited with the win after pitching 7.0 innings and allowing three hits, no earned runs and six strikeouts.
Katherine Serna (1-1) was charged with the loss after pitching 4.0 innings and allowing five hits, three earned runs and three strikeouts. Megan Gregory also pitched 3.0 innings and allowed two hits, two earned runs and two strikeouts.
Game Two
The Camels came out scoring early in the first inning when Tristin Doster grounded out, but Alyssa Henault scored. In the second inning Henault hit a two RBI double, and then scored home on a wild pitch. In the fourth inning Savannah White hit an RBI triple, and Henault hit an RBI single. Doster and Swiney bothhit RBI singles in the fifth inning, with Brooke Carey hitting an RBI double. Jamaria Charley ended the game in the sixth inning when she hit an RBI single.
Queens battled in the third and fourth innings scoring two runs.
Abby Craver (4-6) was charged with the loss after pitching 2.0 innings and allowing three hits and two earned runs.
Hannah Leierer (4-7) was credited with the win after pitching 5.0 innings and allowing four hits, one earned run and five strikeouts. Isabella Smith also pitched 1.0 inning and allowed no hits, no runs and two strikeouts.
