Elon defeats Campbell 16-12

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Sammy Fisher scored five goals to lead Elon to a 16-12 win over Campbell Saturday afternoon at Barker-Lane Stadium.

The Camels drop to 3-10 overall and 0-4 in CAA play while Elon improves to 6-7 on the season and 2-3 in league games.

Campbell trailed 3-2 after the first quarter but were outscored 6-2 in the second behind three goals from Fisher. Trailing 9-4, Campbell brought it back within three goals after limiting the Phoenix to just one goal in the third quarter.

Consecutive goals from Ally Heath with 3:32 to go cut Campbell's deficit to two. Elon added a goal from Mia Zebley while Fisher added her final goal of the day with 1:18 left to put the game out of reach.

Eight different Camels found the back of the net with Heath, Delaney Nicolaus, Caroline Laur and Hailey Kohlmann recording two goals each. Joslin Hanbury dished out a game-high four assists.

Anna Hackett netted four goals for the Phoenix while Cierra Hopson, Kaitlyn Michaud and Zebley scored two goals each.

MJ Santa Barbara, who ranks No. 8 in the country with 8.67 draw controls per game, led all players with 11 as Elon held a 21-10 overall edge on draws. The Phoenix also held a 38-28 advantage on shots over the Camels.

Campbell travels to Delaware and Monmouth next Friday and Sunday for its final road trip of the regular season.
