Camels win two games, fall in championship game

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Campbell topped Delaware and the first game against UNCW, but fell to UNCW in the championship game. 

Game One- Campbell 4, Delaware 3

The Blue Hens started out hot in the first inning, scoring two runs after Chloe Blantz hit a two RBI single. The Camels answered in the third inning with Brooke Carey hitting an RBI double, and then Madilyn Gillespie hit an RBI single to tie the game. The game was then suspended due to inclement weather. 

The game resumed in the top of the fourth inning on Saturday at 12:00 PM. Lindsay Lumsden hit a home run in the bottom of the fifth, and then Alyssa Henault got walked with bases loaded to give the Camels their fourth and final run of the game. The Blue Hens scored their third run in the seventh inning after a double play.

Morgan Hess (14-6) was charged with the loss after pitching 2.1 innings and allowing three hits, two earned runs and no strikeouts. Emily Winburn also pitched 3.2 innings and allowed five hits, two earned runs and one strikeout. 

Isabella Smith (24-7) was credited with the win after pitching 4.0 innings and allowing three hits, one earned run and seven strikeouts. Hannah Leierer also pitched 3.0 innings, allowing five hits, two earned runs and no strikeouts. 
 
Game Two- Campbell 2, UNCW 1

Campbell put the first run on the board in the first inning after Carey hit a RBI sac fly. Henault also hit an RBI sac fly in the second inning to give the Camels their second and final run of the game. The Seahawks scored their only run in the third inning after Tayler Vitola scored on a passed ball.

Emily Winstead (13-7) was charged with the loss after pitching 7.0 innings and allowing nine hits, two earned runs and three strikeouts.

Isabella Smith (25-7) was credited with the win, pitching 7.0 innings and allowing four hits, no earned runs and six strikeouts. 
 
Game Three- Campbell 1, UNCW 3

It was an even game up until the sixth inning when Lumsden hit an RBI single to put the Camels on the board. The Seahawks answered in the seventh inning, scoring three runs after an error.

Kara Hammock (17-5) was credited with the win after pitching 7.0 innings and allowing five hits, one earned run and six strikeouts. 

Hannah Leierer (5-8) was charged with the loss after pitching 6.0 innings and allowing one hit, no earned runs and no strikeouts. Isabella Smith also pitched 1.0 inning and allowed no hits, no earned runs and no strikeouts.
