Radford edges Camels in extras 6-1

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Radford batted around, plating five runs to break open a tie game in the top of the eighth, topping Campbell 6-1 on Tuesday night at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.

Radford moved to 19-18 on the season with the win over its former Big South Conference foe, while Campbell fell to 23-11 overall following its fourth extra inning outing of its 2025 campaign, dropping its first midweek matchup since February 26.

In a 1-1 game heading into extra innings, Radford sent 10 to the plate in the top of the eighth, with the first five batters of the frame reaching base, starting with a Amanda Lee leadoff single. Lee scored two batters later on a Cassi Barbato base hit. Kelley Feigen and Kiara Van Beuge also drove in runs for the Highlanders before Emily Smith's two-run single with two outs.

Dakota Redmond (11-5) sat the Camels down in order in the bottom of the inning to close out the game, retiring the final seven batters she faced to earn the win in relief. Redmond pitched three innings of one-hit ball, striking out one. Radford starter Morgan Cooper tossed five innings with a run on five hits, striking out three and walking one.

Cassiti Baroni (6-3) was charged with the loss for the Camels, allowing five runs, two earned, on five hits with a strikeout and a walk over 1.2 innings.

CU starter Emily Dameron totaled 4.1 innings, scattering six hits with a first inning run. Katherine Serna also fanned one and walked two with a hit in two innings in the circle.

Barbato was 2-for-4 for the Highlanders with two RBI, including her RBI single in the first, scoring Lee with two outs, also scoring a run in the eighth. Lee, meanwhile, was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Smith added a 2-for-3 day with two RBI, while Feigen was 3-for-3 with an RBI, a run and a walk.

Allyiah Swiney paced Campbell, going 2-for-3 with a second inning RBI double, while Tyra Parker went 2-for-4.

Next up, Campbell returns to CAA play on the road this weekend, April 4-6, at Monmouth. The Camels will return to Amanda Littlejohn Stadium on April 8 against another former Big South rival, Coastal Carolina.
