BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell wrestling team fell to Appalachian State, 29-12, on Senior Night Friday at Gore Arena.

Redshirt freshman Colby Crouch, graduate student Logan Heil and redshirt freshman Kendrick Hodge each recorded victories for the Camels in the dual. Campbell built early momentum with wins in three of the opening five bouts, but Appalachian State closed the match with five consecutive victories to pull away.

Crouch set the tone at 125 pounds, earning a pin just 27 seconds into his match. Heil followed with a 7-2 decision at 133 pounds to give Campbell a 9-0 lead. Hodge added a 7-4 decision at 157 pounds, briefly putting the Camels back in front midway through the dual.

Campbell either led or stayed within one score through the first half of the match before the Mountaineers pulled away across the final weights.

UP NEXT

Campbell returns to the road for the first time since Jan. 10 when it faces Bellarmine in Louisville, Ky., at 7 p.m. Feb. 6.

The Camels will then return home for their final match of the season Sunday afternoon against Chattanooga in Carter Gym at 1 p.m.
