STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Campbell dropped its contest at No. 12 Stony Brook, 16-4, early Sunday afternoon at LaValle Stadium.
The Seawolves (9-2, 3-0 CAA) controlled the action throughout the game, outshooting the Camels (9-4, 0-3) 40-8. The home team won the draw control fight, 17-5, in addition to causing 15 of Campbell's 24 turnovers while committing only 13 turnovers.
Campbell trailed by just two after the first quarter, with
Drew Watkins recorded a goal with less than a minute left in the first frame.
Stony Brook went on to score 12 unanswered goals across the second and third quarters, allowing just one Campbell shot in those frames.
Caroline Laur,
Paige White and
Victoria Direnno rippled the back of the net in the fourth frame to close out CU's scoring.
Isabella Caporuscio led the way for the home team with five goals and an assist in addition to four caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Campbell's defensive trio of
Hailey Kohlmann,
Kendall Wilson and
Brooke Cressy each caused two turnovers.
