BUIES CREEK, N.C. – McKenna Duncan closed out her Campbell career with a four-goal performance to help lift the Fighting Camels over Drexel, 14-12, in the season finale at Barker-Lane Stadium.
Campbell closed the season with two straight victories, finishing with an 11-6 record and 2-5 mark in CAA play. The Dragons finished the year at 5-11 (2-5).
11 wins marks the second-most wins in a season in team history, trailing just the 2023 season. The Camels also won eight consecutive games this year, a program record.
Fellow senior
Delaney Nicolaus added one goal and two assists. Defender Brooke Cressey recorded two caused turnovers and three ground balls, and
Bridget Ahlgren added two ground balls, one caused turnover and one draw control.
Fifth-year senior
Hailey Kohlmann scored her fifth goal of the season and recorded five caused turnovers to end her career with 74, third most in program history. She caused 49 of those turnovers this season, a program record.
Freshman
Emma Jankowiak made her presence felt on Senior Day, scoring two goals and providing four assists for a game-high six points.
Drew Watkins was strong in the circle again, recording 12 draw controls for the second time this season. She ends the year with 99 draw controls, fourth-best in team history. She also notched her third hat trick of the season.
Drexel started the game quick with a 3-0 lead in the first five minutes, but the Camels fought back to make it 3-2 at the end of the first quarter.
The teams combined for eight goals in the second quarter, with Watkins and Kate Quinn scoring two for their teams. Campbell won the quarter by two goals to take a 7-6 advantage into halftime.
The teams exchanged goals in the third quarter until the Dragons went back-to-back with under two minutes to take a 10-9 lead into the final frame.
Chloe Annibell scored her lone goal of the game 19 seconds into the fourth quarter to tie the game once again, which was followed by free position goals from
Paige White and Duncan to put the Camels back ahead by two.
Ellie Wall drew the Dragons back within one with six minutes to play. Drexel won the ensuing draw control, but Kohlmann forced a turnover which led to a goal by Duncan off an assist from Nicolaus.
Campbell won the remaining three draw controls to control possession, and Jankowiak added the final Campbell goal of the day.
