Camels impress in first three years as CAA member

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The month of July marks Campbell's three-year anniversary as a member of the Coastal Athletic Association and the Fighting Camels have already demonstrated they were more than ready to make the jump to a higher level of competition in NCAA Division I.
 
Baseball
The 2026 Campbell Baseball squad made a 10-win improvement (41-17) over its first year in the CAA, while claiming the South Division title with a conference record 26 league victories.  Led by CAA Coach of the Year Chris Marx, Campbell totaled the third-most victories in school history.
 
Since joining the CAA, 32 Camels have earned All-CAA recognition including 2026 CAA Pitcher of the Year David Rossow, while also was named All-American.  Two Camels were selected in the last two MLB drafts with two others signing free agent contracts.  The 2026 Major League Baseball draft will be held July 11-12.
 
Men's Basketball
After going winless in its first two CAA tournament appearances, the 2026 squad won its first two league championship victories, including a quarterfinal round triumph over top-seed UNCW.
 
Four Camels have been chosen to All-CAA teams, including first-team members DJ Smith (2026) and Colby Duggan (2025), second-team honoree Anthony Dell'Orso (2024), plus 2025 CAA Defensive player of the year Nolan Dorsey.
 
Women's Basketball
The Fighting Camels have improved their conference wins tally each year (9-12-13) and registered two 20-win seasons since joining the league.  Campbell finished 22-13 overall in 2025, was runner-up in the CAA Championship and earned its first-ever WNIT win in program history.  The 2026 squad posted a 20-12 overall record, 13-5 in the league and tied for second place in the regular season standings.
 
Eleven Camels have been named to the All-CAA teams, including 2026 Rookie of the Year Jasmine Nivar.  In 2024, Shy Tuelle was named CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Brittany Staves received the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award.
 
In 2026, the women's basketball team won the NCAA Public Recognition Award, which goes to teams earning multiyear Academic Progress Rates in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sport.
 
Cross Country
Campbell's men's and women's cross country teams were named All-Academic Teams for the 2025 season by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
 
Football
Campbell has placed 11 players on the All-CAA Football teams since joining the league for the 2023 season, including a pair of first team honorees, wide receiver Sincere Brown (2024) and offensive tackle Mike Edwards (2023).  Since joining the CAA, Fighting Camels have been named to All-America squads three times, including offensive lineman Mike Edwards in 2023, who became Campbell's first two-time football All-American. Wide receivers VJ Wilkins (2023) and Randall King (2024) also earned freshman All-America nods.
 
Campbell earned its first-ever win over a ranked opponent during the 2024 season, with the Camels topping No. 17 Western Carolina 24-16 on the road. The win was also Braxton Harris' first as head coach of the Camels.  In the classroom, the Camels have posted three straight semesters with a team GPA above 3.0 for the first time in the program's Division I history (since 2008).
 
Men's Golf
Campbell has produced three-straight top-four finishes in the CAA Men's Golf Championship.  The 2026 squad own two tournaments under the direction of first-year head coach Matt Moot.  Henric Bjelke won the 2025 CAA individual title to earn an automatic berth in the NCAA regionals.  The 2024 CAA Rookie of the Year, Erik Johansson, received an at-large bid to the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional.  Benjamin Killingstad was named the league's top rookie in 2025.
 
Women's Golf
Campbell has finished among the top three teams in the last two CAA Championships, including a third-place showing in 2026.  Jade Potter was named to the All-Championship team this season after finishing in a fourth-place tie at the league tourney.  The 2025 Camels earned an at-large invitation to the NCAA Lubbock Regional.  Alicia Olsson was named CAA Rookie of the Year in 2024, while Fanni Gronlund was chosen the league's top freshman in 2025.  Olsson shared conference player of the year honors in '25.  In 2026, the women's golf team won the NCAA Public Recognition Award, which goes to teams earning multiyear Academic Progress Rates in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sport.
 
Women's Lacrosse
The 2026 team posted a school-record 8-game win streak en route to tallying the second-most victories in a season (11-6) in program history.  Campbell finished fifth in the '26 CAA standings, a three-place improvement over the previous season.  Campbell players have been named All-CAA seven times over the last three years.
 
Men's Soccer
Campbell's men's soccer team has improved its overall and league win totals each season since joining the league, including a 10-6-4 mark in 2025, 4-2-2 in CAA play.  The Camels were CAA South Division runner-up last season.  Since joining the league, 15 Camels have been named to the All-CAA team, including six first-team members in 2025.
 
Women's Soccer
Since joining the conference, five Camels have been honored on the All-CAA teams, while three have been selected for the all-rookie team.
 
Softball
Campbell has produced a regular season title (2024), made two appearances in the league championship final (2024, 2025) and totaled more than 30 wins each year since joining the CAA.  The 2026 squad finished 34-23 overall and tied for the South Division title with an 18-6 record.  Since CU joined the league, a total of 17 Camels have earned All-CAA recognition with six gaining top individual honors.  In 2024, Lindsay Lumsden was named Rookie of the Year, Alyssa Henault Player of the Year and Isabella Smith Pitcher of the Year.  Hannah Cornetto claimed top rookie honors in 2025.  Charlie Montgomery was chosen as 2026 Player of the Year, while Amber DeSena was selected Defensive Player of the Year.
 
Women's Swimming
In each of the last three years, Campbell has been named a Scholar All-America Team by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).  The Camels posted a 3.741 team GPA in the 2026 spring semester, second-highest among Campbell's 10 women's athletics teams.  For the 2025-26 academic year, the Camels posted the highest team GPA of any CAA program.
 
Men's Tennis
Campbell improved its regular season win total against CAA teams to 4-1 in 2026 when the Camels were seeded third in the league tournament, their highest standing since joining the conference.  Campbell individuals have earned All-CAA honors five times – four singles players and one doubles team – since the 2024 campaign.  In 2026, the men's tennis team won the NCAA Public Recognition Award, which goes to teams earning multiyear Academic Progress Rates in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sport.
 
Women's Tennis
Campbell made its third-straight CAA Championship (only the top six teams qualify) appearance in 2026.  CU players have been selected to the All-CAA teams five times. In 2026, the women's tennis team won the NCAA Public Recognition Award, which goes to teams earning multiyear Academic Progress Rates in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sport.
 
Indoor Track & Field
Over the last three seasons, Campbell athletes have earned 28 All-CAA honors at the Indoor Track & Field Championships.  CJ McBride was named the 2024 CAA Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year.
 
Outdoor Track & Field
Since joining the league, Camels earned 15 All-CAA honors with podium finishes at the Outdoor Championships.  At the 2024 NCAA Championships, five Camels earned All-America recognition:  Jamal Miller, Jamel Miller, Da'Shawn Ballard, Dominique Alexander and CJ McBride.   Mekhi Dupree was named the CAA Rookie of the Year in 2025.  In 2024, Jaidyn Ramsey was chosen CAA Women's Track Athlete of the Year, Aaliyah Brown-Muhammad was the Women's Rookie of the Year, while CJ McBride was named Men's Field Athlete of the Year.
 
Volleyball
Campbell claimed both the 2025 CAA Regular Season and Tournament Championships.  Led by CAA Coach of the Year Greg Goral, the Camels finished 23-7 overall, 13-3 in the league, and made a 17-win improvement from the previous season, the highest jump in the nation.  Gwen Wolkow was named CAA Tournament MVP, and the Camels earned their second-ever NCAA post-season berth.  Since joining the league, seven Camels have been named to the All-CAA teams. In 2026, the volleyball team won the NCAA Public Recognition Award, which goes to teams earning multi-year Academic Progress Rates in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sport.
