About Johnson Aquatic Center

The Johnson Aquatic Center is named after Campbell graduate Nathan Robert Johnson. Johnson died in an automobile accident in June 1970, shortly after receiving a bachelor of science degree in business administration from CU.

The aquatic center is located in the southeast corner of campus and since opening its doors in 1976, it has been home to numerous swim schools, high school swim meets and now the Campbell women's swimming team. The facility is two stories, 4500 square feet and houses a 25-yard, eight-lane pool.

The center also offers water aerobics, lap swimming, open swimming and university club and youth competitive swimming practice each day. The center underwent a renovation in the fall of 2009 to bring the drainage up to federal standards, and again in 2014, updating the venue's sound system. The Johnson Aquatic Center was officially dedicated on October 2, 1976 – Homecoming Weekend at Campbell.
