Campbell University

Marching Band

The Sound of the Sandhills Marching Band is under the director of Dr. Mike Phillips. The marching Band serves an ambassador to Campbell University as an independent team that performs at high stakes events on a national and international stage. All students receive a scholarship based on the complete participation portfolio in the CU Band program. Students receive priority registration for classes, there are no participation fees, all traveling is free, and a lot of free Campbell gear. The marching band is considered a foundation program to the athletic band organization.

The marching bank is a ‘all in’ effort for the students and staff. All members of the staff contribute to the functioning and instruction of the program.

Each year the marching band prepares three shows and parade presentations. The preparation for these performances begins at PRE-SEASON TRAINING two week prior to the start of classes. Regular rehearsals are Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6pm- 9pm and the mornings of performance days. In 2023-24 the program will prepare performances to include: Pre-Game & Traditions, Dedication to America and our Veterans, “Welcome to our Mardi Gras”, Raleigh Christmas Parade, and 2024 Mardi Gras Parade in New Orleans.
