Eric Daniels was named Campbell’s defensive coordinator in January 2024.
Daniels arrived at Campbell after serving in the same role, also coaching linebackers, under head coach Braxton Harris at Houston Christian during the 2023 season.
At HCU, Daniels helped the Huskies to their first winning season, both overall and in Southland play, in program history. Additionally, linebacker Jalyx Hunt posted an All-America campaign (AFCA, Stats, Perform, Phil Steele) under Daniels, also earning SLC Defensive Player of the Year honors. Hunt was later drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles.
In his first season in Buies Creek, Daniels guided a revamped Fighting Camel defense that saw Jalen Brooks set a school single-season record for tackles with 118. Daniels' defense also helped propel Campbell to a historic win, picking up five turnovers in its 24-16 win at No. 17 Western Carolina, the Camels' first ever win over a ranked opponent.
No stranger to the CAA, prior to HCU, Daniels spent three seasons as defensive coordinator at Towson University, where the Tigers ranked as high as fifth in the nation. He spent one season as defensive coordinator and assistant head coach at Briar Cliff University, after one season in the same role at Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
Daniels was on staff at SMU from 2010-14, the last two seasons as linebackers coach. He helped the Mustangs to a school-record four-straight bowl appearances. He was also linebackers coach at Angelo State for two seasons and began his career as assistant linebackers coach at Hardin-Simmons University.
Although he began his playing career at Baylor, Daniels finished at Hardin-Simmons, where he earned a Bachelor of Behavioral Science in physical education in 2007. He earned a Master's of Student Development and Leadership in Higher Education from Angelo State in 2009.
