Campbell track & field head coach Michael Kelly has announced the addition of assistant coach Shannon Ennis to the staff in the spring of 2020.

"We couldn't be more excited to have Coach Ennis join us," said Kelly.  "With her experience as an athlete, director of operations and a coach,  there is no doubt she is going to help elevate our entire program to another level."

Ennis joins the staff as a USATF Level I and II certified coach, previously serving as the director of operations for the track & field and cross country programs at North Carolina since fall of 2015.

"It is not often a person is allowed the opportunity to bring their passion and their work into sync., Ennis said. "Working for Campbell allows me to take a lifelong love of throwing and share it."

While working as director of operations at UNC, Ennis helped organize all travel for the team, aided in research and paperwork for recruiting and various other aspects in keeping the team successful.

"I want to thank Coach Kelly for seeing the potential in me and trusting me to help him develop the throws program at Campbell. He and his staff are very talented coaches and I feel humbled to count myself among their ranks. Excited for the future and feel blessed to be a part of this program. "

Ennis graduated from Florida State as a decorated student-athlete and All-American, setting school-records upon her graduation in 1997 in both indoor and outdoor shot put, discus, hammer throw and weight throw. All her records currently rank in the top 10 in FSU history. Ennis was also a seven-time NCAA national qualifier and was a three-time ACC champion.

Prior to her time at North Carolina, Ennis served as a volunteer coach with the track & field program at Harper College in Palatine, Ill., focusing on coaching throwers and working on the strength and conditioning for both men's and women's teams. Ennis helped the team earn ten different All-American honors across various throwing events.

Ennis also volunteered as a coach with the Flippen Flyers Track Club, also in Palatine, where she led many junior athletes to set meet records, earn podium finishes and wins in their respective age groups at AAU and USATF sanctioned meets.

Ennis is the mother of current Campbell track & field student-athlete and thrower, Samantha Ennis.
