Mark Spellman is in his second season as Director of Strength & Conditioning and Head Football Strength & Conditioning Coach at Campbell University. He brings three decades of experience – including 15 years on the NCAA Division I level – to Buies Creek.
Spellman’s resume includes at 12-year stint at Fairfield University (2001-13), where he oversaw all aspects of the strength and conditioning program for 20 Division I sports and over 400 varsity athletes.
He also serves as assistant strength and conditioning coach at Villanova (1999-2001) and George Washington (2013-14).
Spellman’s further experience includes stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1998) and Washington Redskins (1995).
He joined the Fighting Camel program after spending the last eight years in the private sector, including a five-year stint as Director of Healthy Living at the New Canaan (Conn.) YMCA.
He is certified through the NSCA as a RSCC*D and CSCS and hold Performance Enhancement Specialist, Functional Movement Screen Level 1 and Certified Conditioning Specialist certifications. Spellman earned both his B.S. in physical education (‘93) and M.S. in human performance (’02) from Frostburg State.
Spellman and his wife Kelly are parents of three children, Emily, Drew and Patrick.
