2011:  Named 3rd-team All-South Atlantic Region by the NSCAA and 1st-team All-Big South Conference by league coaches... Selected to NCCSIA All-State 1st-team...  Also named to Big South all-tournament squad... Finished 9th among league scoring leaders with 18 points on 6 goals and 6 assists... Was 8th in assists and tied for 5th with 2 game-winning goals... Established career highs for games started (20), minutes played (1730), goals (6) and points (18)... Had 5 goals and 2 assists in 9 games vs. Big South regular season foes... Scored twice and assisted on CU’s other goal in a 3-1 victory over Liberty (10/25)...  Netted two goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-2 triumph over VMI (10/29)... Named Big South attacking player of the week for Oct. 25-31 and gained national team of the week honors from CollegeSoccerNews.com...   Named Offensive MVP and to the all-tournament team at the UNCW adidas Classic in September when he had a hand in 3 of CU’s 4 goals in wins over Wofford (1-0) and Hartford (3-2)... Provided game-winning assist in 1-0 OT triumph over North Carolina State (10/4)... Played with the IMG Bradenton Academics of the USL Premier Development League (PDL) in summer of 2011. 

2010:  First-team Atlantic Sun All-Conference choice... Also named Team MVP and to pre-season all-league squad... Ranked 2nd among A-Sun leaders in assists (8) and assists per game (0.44)... In conference games only, he led the A-Sun in assists per game (0.62) and tied for the league lead with 5 assists in 8 outings... Registered 9 of his 14 points vs. A-Sun competition... Stood 3rd in points per game in A-Sun play (1.12)... had career-high 3 assists in 7-0 win over Belmont (10/28)... Scored twice and assisted on another CU goal in 4-3 loss at Jacksonville (10/21)... Set up game-winning goals vs. Appalachian State, USC Upstate and Belmont... Assisted on game-tying goal with 6 seconds remaining in regulation of 1-1 draw at UNC Greensboro (9/22).

2009:  Named to Atlantic Sun All-Conference second team and All-Freshman Team… Presented team’s Jim McVeigh Award as most promising freshman on A-Sun regular season champions… Ranked seventh among A-Sun leaders in points (16) on 5 goals and 6 assists… Tied for 9th in goals scored and 3rd in assists… Led all A-Sun freshmen in assists and 2nd in points… Ranked 2nd on team in points and assists, tied for 1st in goals… One of just 3 Camels to see action in all 19 games… Made 17 starts, including collegiate debut at UNC Wilmington (9/1), when he scored his first career goal… First career assists set up only goal in 1-0 victory at Georgia Southern (9/8)… Set up first goal and scored winner at Belmont (10/3)… His 84th minute strike was the lone goal in 1-0 win at Mercer (10/17)… Assisted on game-winner at Stetson (10/22) and vs. Jacksonville (10/31).

Prep/Personal:  Mitchell Alejandro Cardenas Gutierrez was a three-time all-district selection at College Park High School…  As a senior, he scored 20 goals and set up 11 others while earning district and county MVP honors… Also was named to the all-district and all-country first team and second-team All-Greater Houston… Four-year high school career totals include 52 goals and 40 assists… Played club soccer for the Texas Rush AHFC AS Monaco U-18 Academy… Son of Alejandro Cardenas, who played professionally for 17 years, including a stint with Pumas of Mexico… Born Jan. 8, 1991 in Mexico City, Mexico… Exercise and sport science major.
