Sophomore (2010): Named to the Atlantic Sun’s All-Academic Team…hit .229 with 25 hits, 18 runs, 18 walks and 12 RBIs…second on the team with six wins, 81 innings pitched and 73 strikeouts…limited opponents to a .195 batting average… Had a hit and run scored in the doubleheader against UNCW (2/11)…threw a one-hit shutout against the Seahawks…had two hits and a double against Charleston Southern (2/16)…struck out four in five innings against the Lady Bucs…had two hits, three RBIs and a double and College of Charleston (2/27)…had a hit, walk, run scored and run driven in against Syracuse (3/5)…struck out nine against South Alabama (3/5)…limited No. 16 LSU to two runs in seven plus innings (3/6)…picked up two hits against N.C. State (3/10)…also pitched a complete game in earning the win against the Wolfpack…had two hits and RBIs against Tennessee Tech (3/14)…scored two runs against Tennessee (3/14)…defeated Hampton with four innings pitched and five strikeouts (3/16)…had two hits, a home run and two runs scored against Winston-Salem State (3/19)…combined on a shutout against the Rams…scored three runs in the two games against N.C. Freshman (2009): Named to Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team…hit .279 with 29 hits, 23 runs, six home runs, 18 RBIs and 49 total bases…also won eight games with a 2.51 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 75.1 innings pitched…had a hit, run scored and an RBI against Bucknell (2/13)…also recorded the first win of her career with six innings and four strikeouts against the Bison…had a multi-hit performance against Charleston Southern (2/14) …picked up two hits, a home run and two RBIs with three runs scored against NC Central (2/17)…earned the victory with four one-hit innings and eight strikeouts… had a home run, two RBIs and scored a run against UNCW (2/19)… struck out a career-high 10 strikeouts in the win against UNCW… won her fourth game of the season with seven strikeouts against Charleston Southern (2/27)…had a multi-hit performance and scored two runs against Norfolk State (2/28)…defeat Jacksonville with five scoreless innings (3/6)…pitched six scoreless innings in the win against ETSU (3/21)… hit a home run with three RBIs and a run scored against Kennesaw State (4/7)… hit a home run in second straight game with two RBIs and a run scored in the first game against Stetson (4/11)… picked up the first save of her career with three innings of relief work against Elon (4/21)…went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate in the opening round of the A-Sun Tournament against Stetson, scoring twice and driving in a run….hit a home run against North Carolina (5/14) in the NCAAs.
Prep/Personal: Won four varsity letters for Hopewell High School…four-time All-Conference selection in the Meca-7/4A… received All-County honors in each of her final three seasons… as a sophomore won her team’s offensive award…as a junior was given honorable mention in All-State voting… as a senior won the second of back-to-back team defensive MVP awards…helped the Carolina Lady Blues to a Gold Nationals appearance becoming the first team from the Carolinas to qualify for the tournament… full name is Christina Marie Melton… born 3/21/90 in Charlotte…daughter of Chuck and Laura Melton…has two younger brothers - Nick and Noah… majoring in elementary education.
