Sydney Davis was named Assistant Coach for the women's soccer program in April of 2024.

Davis joins the staff from Division III Dickinson College, where she served in the same role for two seasons. Four members of the 2023 Red Devil squad received all-conference honors.

“Sydney has demonstrated early in her coaching career she aspires to the highest levels,” said head coach Jeff Gross. “Yet, she’s keen to learn first and that has been evident since we started the process. She was recommended by several people I respect. Each said our players will benefit from her love of the game!”

After her collegiate career, Davis played one season of professional soccer in the Liga I in Romania. She was also a member of Eagle FC in the USL W League, advancing to the semifinal match in 2023.

Davis played for five seasons at Bridgewater College in Virginia, from 2017 to 2021. During her time there, she broke the program record for all-time wins and shutouts as a goalkeeper. In the 2021 season, she set the program record with eight shutouts in a single season.

Davis was also named the VaSID State Defensive Player of the Year in the 2020-21 season. In 2021, she was a member of the United Soccer Coaches second team all-region, with a save percentage of .855 in her final year.

Davis graduated from Bridgewater College in 2021 with a degree in Environmental Science and Wildlife Biology.

A native of Arlington, Va., Davis lives with her husband, Kevin Metzger, and their two dogs and two cats.
