Biography

After a standout four-year playing career with the Camels, Ashley Weers moves to the Campbell sidelines as an assistant coach. Weers will assist in all facets of the program.

Weers ranks among the top blockers in Campbell volleyball history, finishing her career standing in the CU all-time top-10 in total (sixth), solo (ninth) and assisted (sixth) blocks. As a senior, the Littleton, Col. native posted the best single-season attack percentage in school history, notching a .368 rate, which also led the Atlantic Sun.

In 2009, Weers was named A-Sun First Team All-Conference after her stellar senior year, becoming the first Camel to collect first team honors since Tinsley Gordon in 2000, and only the third A-Sun first team member in program history since joining A-Sun in 1994. Weers is also the fifth Camel in history to receive multiple A-Sun accolades, being named to the conference's all-freshmen team in 2006. Only Jennie Heries took home multiple all-conference honors during Campbell's stay in the Big South. Heries remains as Campbell's only two-time first team all-conference player, being named all-Big South in 1989 and 1990.

The former middle blocker was also named A-Sun Player of the Week twice during the season, taking the league's first weekly honor of the season after grabbing all-tournament recognition at the NC State/Hilton RTP Classic, where Weers hit .391 on the tournament, committing only five attack errors on 87 chances, and smashing 39 kills with 12 total blocks. The Camels grabbed a 4-0 record in that tournament that included a 3-0 sweep of NC State, Campbell's first-ever three-set win over a major conference opponent.

Weers was again named player of the week after leading the Camels to five consecutive A-Sun wins. Weers averaged 3.00 kills and 1.00 blocks per set for the Camels, converting 36 of 82 attack attempts with just eight errors for a .341 rate.

With Weers leading the way on the court, the Camels recorded their best season since 2001, notching 17 wins, a remarkable 10 win turnaround from the previous year. The Camels also made their second consecutive A-Sun Tournament appearance for the first time since 1997-98.

Weers also has coaching experience at the club level, serving as a coach for the Harnett Area Volleyball Club (HAVC).

While assisting head coach Leigh Mullins, who she played under for two seasons, Weers will work toward her master's of business administration at Campbell. She completed her bachelor's degree in sport management in May of 2010.
