  • Title
    Assistant Coach

Robbie Belden enters his second season with the Campbell Volleyball program in the fall of 2018. Belden assists with recruiting, team travel and opponent scouting. He also works to develop the offensive attack for the Camels.

In 2017, Belden helped guide Campbell to its first 20-win season since 1998. The Camels finished the year 20-12 overall and earned the program’s first postseason berth to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.

Belden came to Campbell after a two-year stint as a volunteer assistant coach at UConn in 2015 and 2016. While at UConn, Belden helped train the setters, worked with the staff to build offensive game plans, assisted with team travel plans, and helped put together opponent scouting reports.

“Rob’s experience as a player and coach at several levels rounds out our staff nicely,” said head coach Greg Goral. “He can train every position and assist in developing our offensive and defensive philosophies. He understands the different aspects of managing a program, and is proficient with recruiting and scouting. I’m looking forward to having two assistants with a lot of experience and versatility. Having a dedicated and effective staff will certainly help move this program towards our goals.”

“I am excited at the opportunity to join a program that is already competing for conference championships and I look forward to helping Campbell volleyball reach its goals,” said Belden. “I hope to continue to improve the offense and help the team score more points offensively while building on the strong defense already in place.

Prior to his time at UConn, Belden worked as an assistant coach at Hartford for three seasons, working with the team’s setters as well as the offense. He also provided his efforts towards the team’s recruiting as well as the opponent scouting. During his final season, the team finished with a record above. 500 for the first time in 20-plus seasons. The team also had three players make the all-conference team during that season.

Throughout his time at Hartford and UConn, Belden also served as a head coach for the Husky Volleyball Club for seven years. He coached teams between the U15-U17 age group, having four of them qualify for junior nationals.

Belden received his undergraduate degree in 2011 from UConn with a degree in political science. He earned his masters in Athletic Administration from Springfield College in 2015.

Belden played volleyball at Glastonbury High School where he was a setter and earned all-state honors during his senior year. He also played four seasons of club volleyball at UConn and was the club president for three of those years.
