David Olberding

David Olberding joined the Campbell Athletics staff in July 2026 as assistant sports performance coach.  He works with the men’s basketball and men’s and women’s golf teams.
 
A 2019 graduate of Wichita State with a B.A. in exercise science, Olberding previously served three years at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La., as director of Olympic sports.  His responsibilities included leading the men’s and women’s basketball teams through year-round training cycles including strength, power, speed and conditioning.  He also oversaw 11 Olympic sports training programs, including nutritional requirements, plus weight room and field training schedules.
 
After completing his master’s degree in exercise science at Wichita State in 2022, Olberding served as assistant athletic performance coach at UNC Pembroke in 2022-23.  He led programs for the UNCP women’s soccer, wrestling, cheer and dance teams, while also assisting with football.
 
A native Kansan, Olberding completed internships at Clemson, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Newman University.  He is a CSCS certified strength and conditioning specialist.
