In his 19th year at Campbell, Jason Williams serves as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Marketing, Communications and Branding for the Fighting Camels.
Elevated to his current role during the 2025-26 season, Williams oversees the athletic department's marketing, communications and creative content departments, including the development and execution of public relations activities that support and promote the Fighting Camels’ 21 sports. He is also responsible for brand management of the Camels, handles future football scheduling, and has been the sport administrator for Campbell's wrestling program since 2024.
Williams is also a member of the department's executive leadership team, and serves on the Campbell Athletics Hall of Fame committee.
First joining the Campbell staff in 2007 as a media services assistant, Williams served as director of communications from 2015-22, working with several Camel programs over his time in Buies Creek. Williams is currently Campbell's primary communications contact for football, swimming and cheerleading, while also serving Campbell’s overall athletics department communications needs.
Aside from serving as a liaison between several Fighting Camel programs and the media, Williams serves as the department’s lead webmaster for GoCamels.com, while also helping spearhead Campbell's social media and graphic design efforts. He also writes feature stories and recaps for GoCamels.com and various game day publications, keeps in-game statistics, publishes game notes and designs various publications, including media guides and record books for his primary sports.
During the 2022-23 season, Williams guided Campbell Athletics' brand refresh project, which included a new visual identity featuring new logos and word marks, a simplified color palette, and official typography fonts.
Named Campbell's Support Staff Member of the Year at the 2015 CAMMYS, Williams has also served as the primary contact for the Camels' baseball, women's basketball, wrestling, lacrosse, volleyball, softball, men's and women's tennis, track & field and cross country programs since joining the Campbell staff in 2007, promoting several conference championship and NCAA tournament teams, All-Americans, academic All-Americans, conference players and coaches of the year, as well as a multitude of other honors.
A native of Rich Square, N.C., Williams was promoted to Assistant Director of Media Services in 2009, and was named Associate Media Services Director in 2013, Director of Athletic Communications in 2015, and Associate AD, Communications & Branding in 2022.
He served as editor for all Campbell football game programs from 2009-11. In 2010-11, Williams served on the Campbell women's basketball grant team, designed to increase awareness, exposure and attendance for the sport.
Williams has served as the host media coordinator for both the 2014 NCAA Men's College Cup, as well as the 2015 and 2018 NCAA Women's College Cups, hosted by Campbell University in Cary, N.C. He also assisted in the communications efforts at the 2013 and 2020 NCAA Women's College Cup.
Graduating from UNC Wilmington in the spring of 2007 with a B.A. in Communication Studies, Williams worked with the Seahawks' athletic communications department as an intern in many facets, writing, editing and keeping statistics in addition to day-to-operations. At UNCW, Williams worked with various athletic programs, including men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's and women's golf and men's and women's tennis.
Williams also held a position with Wilmington, N.C.-based Top Fuel drag racing team Scott Griffin Motorsports in the summer of 2006. For the duration of his time with SGM, Williams was a public relations intern, assisting in nearly all aspects of the NHRA / IHRA competitor's operations during their inaugural season.
In November 2012, he worked the Battle 4 Atlantis on Paradise Island, Bahamas, keeping in-game statistics for one of the nation's premier men's basketball tournaments. He has assisted events such as the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament (2007 and '09 in Raleigh and '10 in Durham), the 2009 NCAA Baseball Chapel Hill Regional and Super Regional, as well as several other NCAA, Big South, Atlantic Sun and Coastal Athletic Association championships.
In August of 2010 he earned his M.S. in Sport Management from California University (Pa.). Williams is a member of the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA).
He resides in Fuquay-Varina with his wife, Courtney, and sons, Nolan and Graham.
