Armstrong Atlantic Defeats Campbell 5-2
SAVANNAH, GA. -- Armstrong Atlantic, rated 11th nationally in the
Division II poll, defeated Campbell 5-2 Tuesday afternoon.
Playing the DI point format, the AASU men won two of three doubles
matches to take the doubles point. Peter Dedik and Davor Zink's 8-5
win at number two over Carlos Campo and Marc Sifre clinched the
point, then the Pirates won at the bottom four singles spots to
pick up the 5-2 victory.
Dedik, Zink and Jeremy Mastnak all picked up straight set wins for
the Pirates, while David Secker won a third-set tiebreak to take
his match.
Campbell senior Jiri Beranek improved to 10-0 on the spring season
with a straight-sets victory over Robert Jendelund at number-one
singles. Junior Florent Wilpotte notched the other singles triumph
with a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Dale White at number-two.
Beranek and Wilpotte extended their win streak in doubles play to
eight-straight matches, with an 8-5 victory at the top slot.
Campbell plays Wednesday at South Carolina State.
