Manassas,
Va.-Campbell cross country headed to northern Virginia last week,
as they ran the Mason Invitational along with Charlotte, American,
Albany, George Washington, Maryland, UNC Wilmington and host George
Mason.
In
their fourth meet of the 2007 season, junior Verrelle Wyatt again
led the way for the Fighting Camel men, taking the ninth spot with
a time of 25:36 in the 8K race, the first time he finished outside
the top two all year.
Other
times for the CU men included Jeff Klaves with a 26:15
(24th), Ken Eichberg at 27:09 (43rd),
Terrence Attema at 27:15 (48th), Josh Lopez at
27:27(63rd), Geoff Anderson at 27:40 (69th),
Stephen Maciong at 27:49 (73rd), Jordan Menze at 27:53
(76th), Charles Robertson at 28:12 (84th),
Ryan Stultz at 28:55 (90th) and Jonathan Lawrence at
29:20 (92nd).
Freshman
Baillie Locke also took ninth place for the Campbell women in 6K
race, marking the first time the Wiarton, Ontario native has
finished outside the top three in her college career.
Also
running in the event for the Fighting Camels were Hannah Roller
(24:12.25, 28th), Tara Franklin (24:16.82,
29th), Diana Norden (24:24.78, 31st), Tara
Allaire (24:29.22, 32nd), Charlotte Farquharson
(25:06.09, 37th), Liza Davis (26:13.90, 48th)
and Katie Crawford (27:06.27, 49th).
Fighting
Camel cross country will be back in action at the Blue Ridge
Invitational on Friday, Oct 12 in Boone, N.C. The run will serve as
the final scheduled tune-up before the squads head into the
Atlantic Sun Championships at the end of the month.
