Belmont (6-19, 1-3

taking advantage of a Campbell wild pitch and an error. Erin Mullen
got aboard with an infield single and scored on the two-out error
by the Camel infield.

took a 3-1 lead in the bottom half of the third inning with some
crafty base running and a pair of Belmont errors. Stephenie Pappas
started the rally walking on four pitches and Jessica Huffman
followed with an infield single. Megan Paul laid down a sacrifice
bunt that the Bruins' first baseman bobbled allowing Pappas to
score.
Cullum took the first
pitch she saw in the next at bat to center scoring Huffman. Cullum
then got in a run down between first and second forcing a throwing
error by the second baseman allowing Paul to come home.
The Camels extended
their lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single by
Amanda Littlejohn scoring Cullum who reached with a two-out single.
The inning was kept alive by a throwing error by the Belmont
shortstop allowing Courtney Quinn to reach and Cullum to move to
third.
Sarah Bentley cut the
deficit to 4-2 with a double to the gap in right-center scoring
pinch runner Elly Bennett.
Stanley (7-4) picked up
the win for the Camels tossing six innings allowing two runs, one
earned, on six hits. The freshman also struck out six batters and
walked two. Lauren Caviness tossed the final inning to pick up her
second save of the season.

suffered the loss allowing four runs, one earned, on six hits; she
struck out five.
In the opener, the
Bruins broke open a scoreless game in the top of the seventh inning
with an RBI single by Angie Hoeye scoring Sarah Vaughn who led off
the inning with a single and a stolen base. She moved to third on a
sacrifice by Kelly Major.
Campbell had a chance
in the bottom of the seventh inning when Sammi Parks walked the
bases loaded with one out, but the sophomore right hander rallied
to retire the Camels next two batters.
Parks (5-7) tossed the
final 2 2/3 innings for the Bruins picking up the win allowing one
hit and the three walks. Caviness (9-11) suffered the loss despite
allowing just four hits and no walks while striking out five. It
was the seventh game this season that Caviness took the loss
getting either zero or one runs from the Campbell offense.
Huffman broke out of a
2-for-19 slump going 3-for-3 from the plate including a lead-off
triple.
