Campbell to a 62-47 win over USC Upstate on Monday evening in the
final women's game at Carter Gym.
USC
Upstate's Courtney Hawkins put on a show
with a career-high 35 points to lead the Spartans. The 35 points by
Hawkins were one off the school record. In scoring her 35 she also

range) and hit eight of her nine free throws. Her 35 points
represented 75 percent of her team's points on the evening.

the home whites for Campbell, also reached double figures with 10
points. She also tied junior Lauren
Arthur for the team lead with five assists. Senior Marlena Murphy tallied nine points and 12
rebounds.

11 Hawkins' points.

the first five minutes, capped off by the Mack layup to take the
lead out to 12 at 31-19. Hawkins then brought the Spartans (5-23,
1-14 A-Sun) back to within eight with her own 8-6 rally.

from sophomore Lindsay Smithberger. In the first
9:11 of the second half, the Camels hit an amazing 11-of-14 shots
to take firm control of the game.
Hawkins
kept making shots and rallied the team to within 12 (53-41) on the
second of made free throws. The lead hovered around 15 for most of
the rest of the game with Campbell able to outlast the impressive
Hawkins and the Spartans 62-47.
For the
game, CU shot 41 percent (23-for-56) but did shoot 57 percent in
the second stanza (16-for-28). For the first time in 10 games CU

were able to dent the scoreboard for USC Upstate besides
Hawkins.

the Spartans 34 to 18 in the paint. The CU bench also came up with
22 points led junior Jessica Mack's eight
