DAVIDSON, N.C. – Campbell ran for 235 yards, including 117 from freshman DeShawn Jones, and defeated Pioneer Football League rival Davidson 47-14 Saturday at Richardson Stadium.

Campbell finishes the season 3-9 overall and 2-6 in PFL play, while Davidson ended 0-11 on the year and 0-8 in conference games. The win was Campbell's second consecutive at Davidson after taking a 26-20 triple overtime victory in Richardson Stadium in 2011.

The 33-point victory margin was the Camels' largest in a PFL game since defeating Valparaiso 56-14 in 2010. The Camels also closed the season with a win for the first time in its modern era (since 2008).

Jones, a freshman from Greensboro, N.C., carried 11 times for 117 yards and a touchdown, averaging 10.6 per attempts for a season-best day. Quarterback Brian Hudson added 71 yards and two touchdowns, also recording 160 yards on 15-of-22 passing with two touchdowns and an interception.

Keith Goss also posted 31 rushing yards and a touchdown.

The Camels set a single-season record for sacks with 27, breaking the previous mark of 26 from 2011. The team gathered its second most tackles for loss with 68, falling just short of its record 72 in 2011.

The Camels used a 55 yard DeShawn Jones run to set up a Brian Hudson two-yard touchdown run, giving CU the early 7-0 lead.

Davidson answered with a seven play touchdown drive with Robert Klein running in for a four yard score. The Wildcats converted the two-point conversion to take an 8-7 lead with 7:59 on the clock in the first.

After alternating possessions, consecutive Campbell runs of 11 and 17 yards from DeShawn Jones and Brian Hudson pushed the Camels into Davidson territory. From the 18 yard line, Keith Goss took the direct snap and scampered in for a Campbell touchdown. The Camels led 13-8 after the extra point attempt was blocked.

Hudson added to the Campbell lead with 25 seconds remaining in the half, driving in his second rushing touchdown of the day, giving the Camels a 19-8 lead at the half.

Out of the break, Jonathan Rogers took the kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown, his second of the season to extend the Campbell lead to 26-8 CU.

Jones' and Ben Bolling added Campbell touchdowns in the fourth quarter, while Davidson's David Rogers also posting one to round out scoring.
