DAVIDSON, N.C. – De'Shawn Jones ran for a school record 201 yards and three touchdowns to power Campbell to a 39-9 win at Davidson Saturday in Pioneer Football League play.
Campbell (5-4, 3-3 PFL) secured its second straight road victory, rushing for 313 yards as a team, while limiting Davidson (1-7, 0-5 PFL) to just three yards on the ground. The Camels outgained the Wildcats 508-249 in the win.
Jones, a junior from Greensboro, N.C., carried the ball 19 times with touchdown runs of 51, 59 and two yards in the win. Coming into the game with 745 rushing yards for the season, Jones also broke Brian Hudson's 2013 mark (884), and now has 946 yards with two games remaining on the Camels' schedule.
Jones posted his fourth and fifth runs of 50 or more yards on the season, recording his four 100 yard rushing game of 2015, and fifth overall.
Dalton Dillon added 56 and Jared Joyner tacked on 32 yards rushing and a TD for the Camels.
Kameron Bryant completed 15-of-18 passes for 195 yards, tossing a 40 yard touchdown pass to Aaron Blockmon early in the fourth quarter.
Blockmon caught four passes for 76 yards with the touchdown, while Damon Simmons added two grabs for 46 yards. Andre Davis registered a team-high six catches for 39 yards.
Mitchell Taylor passed for 246 yards and a touchdown on 18-of-36 passing with an interception. William Morris caught 11 passes for 164 yards and the score.
Campbell jumped on the board with 51 seconds remaining in the first on Jared Joyner's 15 yard touchdown run, set up by Damon Simmons' 31 yard catch.
Jones made it 14-0 on the Camels' next possession, sprinting down the home sideline for a 51 yard score. Mitchell Brown gave Campbell a 17-0 lead at the half with a 31 yard field goal as time expired.
Davidson posted two quick scores to open the second half, with Trevor Smith connecting on a 25 yard field goal, and Mitchell connecting with Morris for a 41 yard touchdown pass, cutting the Campbell lead to 17-9.
Jones answered for the Camels with a 59 yard touchdown run. Blockmon's 40 yard score followed, and Jones tacked on his third touchdown with 9:01 remaining.
Jack Ryan tallied seven tackles for the Camels, while Greg Milhouse posted four, both tallying 2.0 for loss. Brandon Mobley intercepted a pass and recovered a Tyler Rhyne forced fumble, and Dwan Hanshaw posted a sack.
Ben Hart led Davidson with nine tackles.
