BUIES CREEK, N.C. – High Point combined for nine runs in the third and fourth, and topped visiting No. 27 Campbell 10-2 Saturday in Big South action at Williard Stadium.
HPU evened its overall record at 10-10, and moved to 2-0 in Big South games, while Campbell dipped to 18-5 on the year and 3-2 in conference play. The Big South series finale will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday. High Point took Friday night's series opener 9-2.
Spencer Angelis drove one of High Point's five runs in the third on a one out double, and followed with a two-run homer in the fourth, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored on the night.
Cody Manzella also knocked in three with a 2-for-5 effort, while Carson Jackson went 2-for-4 and drove in a pair.
Cedric Mullins extended his hitting streak to 16 games for the Camels, a team season best.
Cole Hallum's two-run home run in the top of the second gave Campbell an early 2-0 lead, plating Kyle Leady, who led off the inning with a double down the left field line.
Hallum, a Bakersfield, Calif. native, also homered on Friday, giving the junior his sixth home run in eight games and seven for the season.
Cas Silber (2-0) picked up the win for HPU, allowing two runs on two hits with six strikeouts and two walks in six innings. Conor Lourey earned the three inning save for the Panthers, striking out five with two hits.
Nick Thayer (4-1) took the loss for Campbell, allowing eight runs, five earned, on nine hits with 3 2/3 with four punchouts and a walk. Andrew Witczak surrendered two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks in 4 1/3 innings of relief.
The Camels will make a trip to Charleston, S.C. on Wednesday, March 25, for a rematch with the College of Charleston. Campbell returns home for the weekend, hosting Radford in a Big South series.
