BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Patrick Marshall drove in three and Dylan Nelson fanned seven to lead visiting Radford past Campbell 9-2 Saturday in Big South Conference play at Jim Perry Stadium.
Marshall was one of four Highlanders (14-11, 4-1 Big South) to knock in multiple runs, with Shane Johnsonbaugh, Hunter Higgerson and Danny Hrbek all notching two RBI each at Campbell (20-7, 4-4) Saturday.
Marshall was 2-for-4 in the loss, also scoring a run for RU.
Radford also took Friday night's series opener 3-1. The series finale will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Nelson (3-2) pitched 7 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts, allowing two runs, both earned, on three hits with two walks. Nygeal Andrews struck out one and walked two in 1 2/3 in relief.
Campbell's Nick Thayer (4-2) took the loss, allowing two runs on two hits with six strikeouts and four walks in 4 1/3. Five Camels pitched out of the bullpen, with Chris Walkerow, Nathan Arp and Wes Noble combining for a scoreless final three innings.
CU led 2-0 after Brian Taylor's two-run home run in the bottom of the second, his second homer of the season.
After allowing the home run, Nelson sat down 13 straight Camels before Drew Butler's leadoff single in the seventh.
With the bases loaded and two out in the fifth, Marshall's two-run single tied the game, and Higgerson followed with a RBI single, putting Radford ahead 3-2.
The Highlanders capitalized on a Campbell miscue in the sixth, scoring six unearned runs to take a 9-2 lead.
Steven Leonard also picked up a double in the first for the Camels. Cole Hallum's season-best hitting streak ended at 12 games.
Campbell travels to nearby Duke on Tuesday, March 31, before returning to Big South play at Presbyterian April 2-4. CU returns home on Tuesday, April 7 against East Carolina.
