BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Nick Zammarelli drove in three, including two on a go-ahead single in the fifth to lift Elon over Campbell Wednesday night at Jim Perry Stadium.

Zammarelli's two-run base hit up the middle gave Elon (20-19) a 4-2 lead, breaking open a tie game in the fifth inning. The Phoenix added another on a Campbell error to make it a three-run frame, going up 5-2. The Camels fell to 25-17 on the year with their seventh straight loss.

Zammarelli added a run for the Phoenix in the eighth on a one-out RBI single, part of a two-run inning to extend Elon's lead to 7-4.

Jake Stalzer (2-4) earned the win, going six innings with four runs, three earned, on 10 hits with three strikeouts. Joe McGillicuddy picked up his sixth save, fanning two while allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth. Sean Byrnes bridged the gap, working two innings with two hits.

Nick Thayer (5-3) was charged with the loss, surrendering five runs, four earned, on eight hits with two strikeouts and a walk. Grant Yost allowed a pair of runs with three punchouts and two walks in three innings, while Sam Rector and Cole Hallum combined for two scoreless.

Elon led 2-0 heading to the bottom of the third after Kory Shumate's RBI single to left. The Camels answered with two in the bottom of the frame to tie it up. Cedric Mullins scored on an Elon error, then Hallum's RBI groundout scored Kyle Leady.

Hallum's team-leading 11th home run of the year made it 5-3 in the bottom of the fifth. The Camels threatened in the seventh, loading the bases after Matt Parrish's RBI single that cut the lead to 5-4, but a double play ended the inning.

Casey Jones was 3-for-5 with two runs scored for Elon, while Andy Moore went 3-for-4, also scoring a run.

Seth LaRue went 3-for-4 for Campbell, while Leady scored twice, going 2-for-5.

The Camels will have the weekend off for exams, getting back on the field on Wednesday, April 29, hosting UNC Wilmington. The Camels return to Big South play May 1 at Gardner-Webb.
