Getting To Know Alexa Genas

Alexa Genas, a sophomore attacker from Albuquerque, N.M., has anchored Campbell's attack during her first two season in the Creek. In just 33 games, Genas has scored 21 goals, registered eight assists and fired away 107 shots. She has netted 13 goals in the first 13 games of the 2017 season, and has won Big South Attacking Player of the Week accolades three times as well as NCAA Division I Player of the Week honors. Genas is pursuing a degree in Political Science at Campbell.

Why did you decide to play soccer: I come from a soccer background and it felt right to play
Who was your biggest influence growing up: My dad because he always believed in my ability and was able to push me in the right direction. My mom was also my greatest influence because she was the balance I needed and exemplified hard work.
Other sports played: I was a cheerleader until age 9, which is when I started playing soccer.
Favorite professional player: My brother, Jermaine Jenas.
Favorite professional club team: Arsenal
What is your favorite memory as a spectator at a soccer game: The derby between Manchester United and Manchester City
What is your favorite memory during your playing career: Winning state championships
What professional player would you want to play with: Alexis Sanchez
Which professional athlete would you like to meet: Kobe Bryant. He is what I think of when I think of an athlete. He knows what it takes to be the best.
What do you like to do in your free time: Paint and sleep
What is something that your teammates may not know about you: I have to wear my left shin guard on my right leg and the right on my left.
