Cory Gensler led five Camels in double figures with a career-high tying 19 points and Campbell defeated Allen 91-62 Friday at Gore Arena.
Chris Clemons added 16 points and tied his career high with 9 assists,
Shane Whitfield and
Marcus Burk chipped in 14 apiece and
Damontez Oliver scored 10 off the bench for the Camels, who led by 20 at the half and never trailed.
Quincy Washington led Allen, a member of the NAIA, with 20 points on 6-of-18 shooting, while Brandon Moore added 14 points and 9 rebounds.
Campbell (6-6) shot 59 percent for the game, made 11-of-24 threes (.458) and finished with a 27-13 edge in points off turnovers. Allen hit just 34 percent of its shots (21-61), 5-of-19 threes (.263), and made 20 turnovers.
The Camels led by as many as 22 in the opening period and took a 49-29 edge at the break. Campbell shot 64.5 percent (20-31) in the first half, including 5-of-10 from 3-point range. The Camels also converted 13 Allen first-half turnovers into 20 points and outscored the visitors 30-14 in the paint.
With a pair of free throws at the 1:23 mark of the opening half, Clemons moved past Mike Reidy (1661 points from 1960-64) into sole possession of fifth place on Campbell's all-time scoring list. A junior guard from Raleigh, Clemons has scored 1,669 points in 75 career games. He extended his NCAA Division I-leading streak of double-figure scoring games to 60.
Campbell opens Big South Conference play Dec. 30 with a 2:00 p.m. tip-off at UNC Asheville.
